When it comes to lip products, I’m a little high-maintenance. Or, rather, my lips are. There are very few products that agree with them and don’t make them flake and peel like crazy. Even so-called hydrating formulas don’t work for me. As such, it’s remarkably difficult to find lip balms that work. When I do, I have to share.
I purchased the Clinique Repairwear Intensive Lip Treatment because Anna of ViviannaDoesMakeup raves about it, and she’s quickly become my favourite blogger. She claims it’s like a twist-up version of the ByTerry Baume de Rose, and while I can’t make a comparaison (having not tried the latter), I can say that the Clinique balm is incredibly hydrating. Moreover, I wonder why nobody else seems to be talking about it!
A common complaint that I have about a lot of lip balms is that they just sit there, coating my lips but not really hydrating. Not so with this. I can wipe it away after 10 minutes if I want to – which I often do if I’m applying a bold lipstick – and my lips feel soft and moisturized.
Most importantly, it doesn’t make my lips flake (any more than they flake naturally to just shed the skin there – ew).
The price tag is unpleasant – at $33, it’s a lot to pay for a lip balm. However, if you’re someone who
is addicted to values lip balm as much as I, I’d say it’s worth it.
