Tanya Burr is easily one of my favourite YouTubers. When I first started watching YouTube beauty videos four or five years ago, she was one of the first people I watched. She’s sweet, funny, and sincere.
When she announced the launch of a lip gloss and nail polish line, I was super excited. From my experience, when consumers of beauty launch a line of beauty products, it tends to be really, really good. This is no different.
What’s better is that Tanya’s line is affordable (around $12USD per gloss), and will be sold in Superdrug in the coming months. Until then, it’s available on feelunique.com; unfortunately, though, they won’t ship the polishes to Canada. So I ordered two of the lip glosses.
We all know I’m not big into lip gloss, but I’m trying to get into it. These ones are nonsticky, and they smell delicious – like strawberry and vanilla, but not in a sickly way. They’re also nicely moisturizing, which is lovely.
I ordered the shades “Chic” and “Picnic in the Park”.
“Chic” is a medium beige shade that can be applied thickly, as above, or in a sheerer coat for everyday wear. It’s creamy and milky, and has some tendency to settle into lip lines; however, in a sheerer coat, it’s not noticeable.
“Picnic in the Park” is a creamy, true bubblegum pink. I have to admit, it’s not a shade I would normally gravitate towards, but the photos online made it look less pink than it was. However, I actually like this colour better than “Chic”, and have worn it more. It gives my lips a hint of colour in the most unexpected way, given that I usually like berries and reds.
The wand isn’t a doe foot, as expected. It’s a spongy, flatter spatula that makes it super easy to apply it accurately along the lip line. I actually prefer this to the conventional doe foot.
Overall, judging from these two shades, Tanya and her team did a really great job of designing these glosses. I hope to be able to get my hands on some of the polishes, but until then, I might order another gloss or two – they’re so lovely!
