November has come and gone. To celebrate (or mourn?), here are my November favourites!
Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer: This stuff is really nice. I believe it’s got light silicones in it, so I feel sliiiightly guilty for liking it, but I don’t notice any buildup so I’m guessing it’s alright… It gives me frizz control without the crunchy, even when I use gel. I used to be a fan of the crunchy, but this has converted me. Soft, frizzless curls are where it’s at.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in ‘Exposed’: When this line of blushes was released, everyone was freaking out over this one. I wrote it off, assuming I wouldn’t be able to use it because it’s pretty much my skin colour, but pinker. Wrong. On me, this is the loveliest, subtlest rosy brown. I can go quite heavy-handed with it and still not look overdone. When I’m in a rush or wearing shimmery eyes or a bold lip — okay, just whenever — it’s perfect.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: See that sad-looking, beat up, label-less thing on the top left? That’s my favourite powder…can you tell? It’s so worn-looking it’s shameful, but at the same time I’m a bit proud. I carried this stuff all over during the summer. If I’m travelling, this is the powder I use. If I’m touching up, this is the powder I use. It’s very very mattifying, so I only use it where I get oily — forehead, nose, and sometimes chin. You literally stay matte all day with this stuff. Sometimes I’ll need a touchup around 5 or 6 if I’m going to be out late, but this could easily last through a workday or schoolday. The best part? It costs about $5.
Formula X for Sephora in ‘Curiosity’: I have raved about this already in my first ever blog post, so I’ll keep it short. Rarely do I remove a colour only to reapply that very same colour… I did that this month with this shade.
Urban Decay Naked Palette: With the announcement (and anticipation!) of Naked 3, I’ve been inspired to use my Naked 1 and 2 more regularly. Naked 1 is definitely my favourite. The bronzey shades suit my skin tone so well. My go-to shades are Smog and Dark Horse.
The Body Shop Body Butter in Coconut: I counted, I’ve got three body butters on the go right now. They’re so good, and I just whip through them, especially in the winter. My skin has been really dry lately, and the coconut one is easily the best-smelling and most hydrating. (I’ve also got Chocomania and Almond, if you’re wondering. I like food smells.)
American Horror Story: Coven. I discovered this show at the end of October and started watching it weekly in November… Oh man. It’s so, so good. I tried to watch AHS: Asylum and AHS: Murder House, but Coven is still my favourite. It reminds me a lot of Buffy, which was my absolute favourite show as a kid. It’s definitely the show I’ve been enjoying the most over the past month.
My final favourite is my blog! When I started my blog this month, I didn’t really expect that people would read it… I thought I’d just kind of be blogging for myself — just for fun — every day. Well, it is fun, but it’s even more fun knowing that people are actually out there reading and enjoying the content I work so hard putting together. Over the past few weeks, blogging has become a really fun and exciting hobby for me. And I’m thankful to everyone who takes the time to read it!
