When I was looking for my MLBB shade with a helpful beauty advisor at Sephora, she had me try on Dolce Vita by Nars. I had never tried Nars lipstick – their bases and blushes are what they’re famous for, so I had never really bothered. But the shade was a really beautiful brown-pink that is super sheer but buildable. It wasn’t quite MLBB, but it stuck in my mind, and I would try it on every time I went to Sephora after that.
During the Murale gift with purchase event, I finally picked it up. And I’m glad I did.
The packaging is beautiful and simple – a matte black case with ‘NARS’ written around it. However, like all Nars packaging, it shows wear and tear immediately. It shows fingerprints, dirt, scratches, and dings…not the most practical, especially for the price.
The formula is lovely. It’s not sticky or heavy and honestly feels like lip balm. It’s very sheer, which I like. My lips are two very different colours, and it has just enough coverage to even them out. I have a little freckle thing on my bottom lip, though, and it doesn’t cover that, which I like.
I think the shade is neutral enough that it works with everything, but can’t really be considered a nude. The sheerness of it gives it an underdone, effortless look, which makes it wearable even with very little makeup. In the photo, I’m wearing tinted moisturizer, concealer, blush, some powder, and brow pencil. It’s nothing fancy, but the lipstick doesn’t look out of place.
If you haven’t given this shade a try, test it out the next time you’re in Sephora!
