L'Oreal Sublime Radiance Sensational Cleansing Oil

Oils are ubiquitous in the beauty community. A few years ago, it was all about oil-free cleansers and moisturizers; now, people are willingly and consciously putting oil on their faces. wut.

I never thought I’d join in on the trend because I’ve always hated the feeling of oil on my eyes. When I did first try a cleansing oil, it was an Origins one and it accidentally got in my eyes, leaving me with a weird milky film and making my vision all foggy. It was traumatic and I didn’t try a cleansing oil again for like 6 months.

The next one I tried was a Sephora brand one. It sounds strange, but it was just too oily – it never really rinsed clean, and I always felt like I had to follow up with a purifying cleanser. The double cleanse method is popular and effective, but I was just never crazy about this oil.

The L’Oréal Sublime Radiance Sensational Cleansing Oil is a light cleansing oil. I’d say it’s a great place to start if, like me, you have combination or oily skin and are new to the cleansing oil scene. The bottle says it’s appropriate for essentially all skin types, but specifically dull skin.

Although I’m all about boosting radiance, that’s not the primary reason I use this cleansing oil. Cleansing oils are amazing for taking off all your makeup, even the hard-to-remove waterproof stuff. This is really good at that. It does struggle with particularly stubborn mascaras – the likes of which I will be reviewing shortly – but other than that, it’s a great way to remove all my makeup in one go. I have, however, been noticing that since I’ve been using it, my skin has been looking especially even and glowy.

Like any cleansing oil, it goes on as a clearish oil and then emulsifies into a milk when you add water to it. When it rinses, it rinses nearly clean, with some very light moisture left behind. I like to get rid of all traces of oil, so I usually follow with my regular cleanser and Clarisonic afterwards, but that’s just because my skin tends to get shiny throughout the day. If you’ve got dry skin, though, it might be good to just rinse the oil off and leave it at that.

I also really like the packaging; it comes with a pump, which is nice. The translucent orange bottle is cute and sleek. I also really like the price; I got it at Walmart, and I’m fairly sure it was under $10. Nice.

I’m really loving this cleansing oil. Even if you have oily skin, give oils a chance; it may seem counterintuitive, but they can really help to balance the skin out!
