L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Peel Pads

In the great tradition of Caroline Hirons, I love a good acid tone. I’ve been preferring it over physical exfoliation lately, and it’s thanks in part to the new L’Oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Brightening Peel Pads.

Gritty face scrubs can be too harsh, causing tiny scratches or tears on the skin. Also, I always forget to do them, which is no bueno. Chemical exfoliation using an acid – glycolic, lactic, or salicylic – is more effective, I find, and better for the skin overall.

I’m thrilled to see that the drugstore is getting in on the acid game. These affordable pads are comparable to the First Aid Beauty ones, which I really like. Glycolic acid provides gentle but effective exfoliation, and the pads themselves have a textured side and a smooth side depending on what you prefer.

I use these at night after I cleanse a few times a week. I follow up with a moisturizing facial mist, my serum, and a nice heavy night cream.

I find them gentle – no sting like the Dr. Dennis Gross pads! – but they certainly work to get rid of dead skin cells and brighten my skin up. I’ve been having really good skin days recently, and I think acids – this one among them – are the reason why.

The only downside to these guys ingredient-wise is that alcohol is fairly high on the ingredient list, so if you find that that dries you out you might be better off skipping these.

Although we should be doing this anyways, it’s super important to wear sunscreen when using acids on the face as they can cause some photosensitivity. I only use these at night, and then use my Murad Invisiblur during the day to protect my skin.
