Today’s post is a bit of an odd one. It isn’t about hair or makeup or nails, but laundry detergent.
You all probably know by now, though, that I wouldn’t bore you with details about a run-of-the-mill laundry detergent.
Soak is actually a hand-washing detergent made to care for your delicates. However, it can be used to wash almost anything. The best part about it is that you don’t have to rinse.
I have to purchase pretty expensive bras if I want them to actually fit, and a washing machine and dryer can ruin them quickly. To get the most out of them, specialists recommend hand-washing.
But I’m lazy, you see.
I first saw Soak on Dragon’s Den, the
original Canadian version of Shark Tank. I thought it was an interesting concept, but didn’t seek it out to buy it. Recently, I realized that the shop where I buy my bras sells it, so I thought I’d give it a try.
The scent I chose is called Celebration, and it’s quite lovely. I smelled a lot of the different fragrances while trying to choose, and there weren’t any that I was strongly opposed to; all the scents are quite inoffensive.
I’ve used this to wash my bras – including the favourite, which we all have – but I’ve also used it for a cashmere sweater, a cotton sweater, and even plain cotton t-shirts. It’s always worked tremendously well. I just pop the item in a plugged sink with a bit of the detergent, wait 15 minutes, then drain the sink. Then I wring out some of the excess water and lay it to dry on a towel. Once it’s dry, it’s also clean and fresh – without the hassle or potential destruction of the washer or dryer. Handy!
