I’ve been trying to shop my stash lately to make use of and enjoy my extensive makeup collection a bit more. I’ve also been enjoying a few things that I’ve picked up recently. These are four – a mix of old and new – are some things I’ve been loving over the past few weeks.
A new technique. Not new, but new to me. Yes, I’ve finally jumped on the soap brows bandwagon! Basically, you use a spoolie to apply a mixture of transparent soap (I use Pears) and water to your brows.
It makes my fine, light brow hairs lay flat against my skin instead of all on top of each other. This lets me get a fluffy, feathery, textured brow that regular brow gel (even my beloved Gimme Brow!) has been unable to deliver. It’s a bit fiddly and takes some patience, but the results are worth it.
A cheeky pair. Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey. Need I say more? It’s a creamy-dreamy pale gold highlight that pairs beautifully with the deluxe mini Nars Blush in Goulue that came in the VIB Rouge renewal kit last year. I’m particularly excited about this blush because my skin is light enough for it to show up at the moment. In August, not so much. 😉
An old favourite. I loved the Smashbox Primer Water last winter. Like many people, my skin gets dry in the colder months and foundation starts to separate, sit on top of the skin, and just generally look funny. So I revisited this old pal. Like magic, the Primer Water eliminates that problem and somehow makes all my base products blend and melt together beautifully. Bonus points for speed – spraying on a primer is 40 times faster than slathering one on!
