Four Lipsticks for Fall – Lip Swatches on Dark Skin

When it comes to lip colours, I have two modes: nudes or bolds, nothing in-between, and this little edit is very much reflective of that.

I mentioned in everyday makeup post that I wear different lip colours every day even if my base makeup stays the same, and I thought I’d share a few of my recent favourites with you.

MAC Lipstick in Among the Fireflies // This is part of the nude lipstick collection that came out that Nicki Minaj was the face of. When I don’t want to wear a matte, or when I want to wear something easy and comfortable, I reach for this. (Also, side note – can MAC find a way to bottle their lipstick scent and sell it as a perfume? They smell so subtle and comforting and wonderful.)

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Hawkwind // KVD’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick formula remains one of my faves. Hawkwind is a newish shade to the line, and I’ve lusted after it since its release. It’s a pretty rosey brown that’s super close to my (lower) lip’s natural colour. My only beef with this one is that it can be a little patchy, and certainly takes at least 2 layers to go opaque, but I’m willing to put up with it for the shade and wear time!

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella // This was part of the Sephora BI Birthday Gift a few years back. I seriously slept on this. The shade of red is beautiful, the formula is comfortable but long-wearing, and the fact that it’s in a pencil format makes way easy to put on. This is my go-to red of the moment.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira // A bold and dramatic deep red, Vampira commands attention, and I feel like a million bucks every time I wear it. My favourite way to wear it is with bold brows, lots of mascara, and lots of highlight. Bold lipstick adds oomph to any look, making it look like you spent way longer on your makeup than you did.
